The Brisbane City Botanical Gardens are located a short stroll from The Westin Brisbane. Attractions include the Bamboo Grove, Weeping Fig Avenue, Riverstage, ornamental ponds, and more. Attend a guided walking tour through the gardens, or enjoy a picture-perfect picnic hamper.

Riverstage

Riverstage is an iconic, outdoor entertainment venue located on the Brisbane River in the City Botanical Gardens. Riverstage has hosted acclaimed local, national and international acts including Ed Sheeran, Florence and the Machine, Powderfinger and The Chemical Brothers. Riverstage also hosts Brisbane community events, including the annual Lord Mayor's Christmas Carols.

Guided Walking Tours

Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features of the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens. Walks are taken at a gentle pace for about one hour and leave Monday - Saturday from the Information Kiosk at 11am and 1pm. Schedules are subject to change, please contact the Information Kiosk for more information.

City Markets, Brisbane City

Kangaroo Point

runWESTIN 5KM CITY LOOP VIA SOUTH BANK

Starting at The Westin Brisbane, enjoy a walk or run north through the city centre before crossing over Victoria Bridge through to South Bank. Head South through South Bank's riverside pathways until you reach the Goodwill Pedestrian Bridge. runWESTIN 10KM LOOP VIA SOUTH BANK, KANGAROO POINT, & STORY BRIDGE

Begin at The Westin Brisbane and head through the Brisbane City Botanical Gardens before going up through Brisbane City and across Victoria Bridge. Once you are in South Bank, follow the pathways through to Kangaroo Point and the Cliffs Boardwalk. BRISBANE RIVERWALK, NEW FARM

Brisbane Riverwalk is one of the most picturesque walks the city has to offer, trailing from the trendy New Farm into Howard Smith Wharves and Brisbane City Centre. Enjoy a walk or run on the suspended pathway and take in sweeping views of Brisbane River out to Kangaroo Point. The Riverwalk can be used by pedestrians and cyclists and is 870 meters in length. For the ultimate River experience, catch the CityCat from the CBD Riverside Terminal out to New Farm's Sydney St Terminal and begin your walk from New Farm back to Brisbane City. To extend your walk, the Riverwalk links up with the riverside boardwalk to extend your journey into Brisbane City and Botanical Gardens. 

 

NEW FARM TO TENERIFFE

Made for urban exploring, the New Farm to Tenneriffe riverside trail passes along Brisbane River, Brisbane Powerhouse, and a range of cafes and restaurants. The 6 kilometer return walk or run can be extended through the Brisbane Riverwalk, or even up through to Newstead and Hamilton. 

 

KANGAROO POINT TO BRISBANE CITY

Starting on top of the iconic Kangaroo Point Cliffs, begin your journey down the famous stairs to the base of the riverside boardwalk. Begin your walk through the winding boardwalk and onto the Story Bridge. Once you have crossed Story Bridge, head onto the riverside boardwalk past Eagle Street Pier and through to Brisbane City Botanical Gardens. Alternatively, catch the complimentary CityHopper ferry service from Thornton or Holman Ferry Terminals to go from Kangaroo Points to Brisbane City Centre. 

 

WEST END TO QAGOMA

Explore vibrant West End with a riverside walk from West End to QAGOMA. Begin in Davies Park and follow Riverside Drive along the curve of the Brisbane River. Enjoy a stroll which leads you to the South Bank Boardwalk, filled with cafes and local attractions such as QAGOMA and Queensland Museum. Visit on a Saturday and enjoy the Davies Park Markets held every Saturday from 6am - 2pm. 

 

MT COOTHA SUMMIT TRAIL

The Mt Cootha Summit Trail is one of Brisbane's most iconic hiking destinations. The trail, located a quick 15 minute drive from Brisbane's City Centre, features spectacular views over Brisbane and beyond. The Summit Track and Mahogany Trail provide a complete walking circuit from JC Slaughter Falls to Mt Cootha Lookout. At  the Lookout you can enjoy sweeping views of Brisbane out to Moreton Bay, or sit back and relax in the cafe and restaurant. The Summit Trail is approximately 5 kilometers long and takes around one hour to complete. 

 

SHORNCLIFFE WALK

Enjoy North Brisbane's coastal scenery with the Shorncliffe Walk. Starting at the intersection of Friday Street and Allpass Parade, begin the 2.5 kilometer bay-side return track through to Shorncliffe Pier. 

 

WYNNUM TO MANLY

Experience Brisbane's southern bay-side promenade with a beachfront walk from Wynnum to Manly. Begin at Wynnum's tidal pool and enjoy a picturesque walk or run through to Manly's Boat Harbour. Visit on the first or third Saturday of the month and stock up at the Manly Jan Power Farmers Market. The return walk is approximately 10 kilometers and takes roughly one and a half hours when walking. 

 

D'AGUILAR NATIONAL PARK

Sitting on Brisbane's doorstep, D'Aguilar National Park provides a diverse range of environments from eucalypt wood lands to lush subtropical rainforests. Start your park visit at Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre. Then travel into the cooler forests of Southern D'Aguilar to enjoy scenic lookouts, walking tracks and shady picnic areas. Fit walkers can hike the Somerset trail for views of Somerset and Wivenhoe lakes. The rockpool at Rocky Hole is surrounded by eucalypt forest and is a great place for a cooling swim in summer. There are 17 moderate hiking trails in D’Aguilar National Park ranging from 5.1 kilometers to 32.5 kilometers.

 

MOUNT GLORIOUS

Mount Glorious, located in the D’Aguilar Range north-west of Brisbane City, is home to some of the most spectacular rainforests around Brisbane. Accessible by a winding mountain road, Mount Glorious is a hilltop that offers great walking trails, picnic and barbecue areas along with cafes. The area offers a number of excellent, well-maintained tracks which guide you through cool, sub-tropical rainforests. Seven of these walks are family-friendly featuring boardwalks to safely traverse tricky terrain.

Kangaroo Point & Riverlife

Featuring unmatched river and city views, experience the beautiful Kangaroo Point cliffs. Located at the base of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, Riverlife Adventure Centre offers a range of exhilarating activities. Challenge yourself to rock climbing or abseiling the Kangaroo Point cliffs, or take a leisurely kayak on the Brisbane River.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Get up close and personal with Australian Wildlife at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Meet a koala, hand-feed kangaroos and engage with a large variety of Australian wildlife in Lone Pine’s beautiful, natural settings. Experience happy, healthy animals and knowledgeable staff, as well as the opportunity to support conservation and enjoy educational opportunities.
