Holiday Events at Arabella Alpenhotel am Spitzingsee

Our main restaurant, the König Ludwig Stube, welcomes you for breakfast daily from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., extending to 8 a.m. to 12 noon on New Year’s Day (Jan 1). Lunch and dinner are served from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (hot meals until 9 p.m.). The Spitzing Alm, our cozy event location and tavern, is generally open from 12 noon to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (hot meals until 9 p.m.). Please note that the Alm has closing days on December 22, 23, 24, and 30, 2025. Exceptions may occur during gala and festive evenings, so please check the daily festive program.

Our AlpenSpa invites you to relax daily: The saltwater thermal bath (Soletherme) is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.. Please note that children under 12 are not permitted during the midday rest period from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.. The sauna area with the relaxation room is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., but for reasons of tranquility, entry is restricted to guests aged 16 and over. The Beauty Farm is generally open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, the hours are changed  to 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it is closed all day on Christmas Day (Dec 25) and New Year’s Day (Jan 1). We recommend booking appointments early.

We invite you to gather on the restaurant terrace, lit by torchlight, to enjoy mulled wine or punch and hot chestnuts while singing Christmas carols. Guests then have the choice of enjoying a 4-course festive menu from the Alpine region in the König Ludwig Stube. Later, after the midnight Christ Church fair, a hearty late-night snack is served in the lobby.

On Christmas Day (Dec 25), you have a festive choice at 6 p.m.. You can opt for the festive 5-course menu accompanied by zither music in the König Ludwig Stube. Alternatively, we offer a cozy fondue evening (Fondue Chinoise or cheese fondue as a 3-course menu) at the Spitzing Alm; reservations are required for this. On St. Stephen's Day (Dec 26), the evening offers either a “Stephanustag” buffet in the König Ludwig Stube or the option to dine à la carte at the Spitzing Alm.

The evening begins with a Flying Buffet and Cocktail Reception in the Lobby. For dinner, you choose your atmosphere: The “Golden New Year's Eve” features an elegant 5-course festive menu in the König Ludwig Stube, or the Spitzing Alm offers a quieter New Year's Eve buffet.  The highlight is the spectacular fireworks, best viewed from the restaurant terrace, followed by dance music from DJ Roxy until late and a late-night snack.

The Wappensaal is available daily as a playroom for children (e.g., 8:30 a.m. – 12 noon and 2 p.m. – 9 p.m.). On selected evenings, the supervised Kids Club (for ages 4–12) opens its doors for fun, games, crafts, and party music. Special cinema afternoons feature beloved films like “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella” (24.12.) and “The Polar Express” (31.12.). We kindly ask that you register your child for the Kids Club at the reception.

We offer a variety of ways to explore the surrounding nature. You can test your limits and strengthen your resilience through mindful ice bathing in the Spitzingsee with Coach Iris Zenglein. Alternatively, you can join Snowshoe tours or winter hikes with Ranger Horst Jenicek, or attend a group torchlight hike with Michaela. Guests can also try sledding from the Obere Firstalm (with a group hike) or join the excursion to the Red Deer Feeding in the Valepp. Registration is required for all guided tours.

Throughout the festive period, you are invited to choose from several unique gastronomic events. These include the traditional Hut Evening at the Spitzing Alm with live music and merriment, and changing themed 3-course menus in the restaurant. Additionally, you can deepen your knowledge at exclusive events like the Wine Tasting in the Osteria’s cellar or the Gin Tasting at the bar.

New Year’s Day starts gently with a varied Hangover Breakfast in the König Ludwig Stube until 12 noon. In the afternoon, the New Year is officially welcomed in the Lobby with the Dürnbacher Bläsern, accompanied by oven-fresh Leberkäs, lentil stew, and draft beer. In the evening, you can choose between the New Year's Winter Barbecue on the restaurant terrace or an à la carte dinner at the Spitzing Alm.
