W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island is a luxury playground spread over two buildings, located in the heart of buzzing Yas Island, revealing the best of Abu Dhabi’s history, heritage and culture. Defying convention, pushing the boundaries, and creating a fashionably unforgettable experience, the design draws inspiration from traditional and artistic surroundings complementing the landscape with architectural elements.
Inspirational architecture unravels in the form of a bold Welcome area, bespoke Welcome desks in the shape of oil drops, to jewel tone furnishings depicting the colours of liquid gold. The Columns in the Living Room represent the fossil dunes created by nature in Abu Dhabi.
The Whatever/Whenever desk is inspired by a local crafted Abra boat, referencing the Abu Dhabi water ways and the mode of movement to the city and above you can see the typical representation of the local Bedouin tents.
Celebrating the prosperity that oil has caused for the UAE especially Abu Dhabi, the retail space becomes the interior of the oil barrel, modernized to incorporate that “Instagram shot” with our own over-scaled interpretation of the selfie ring.

Influenced by symmetry, intricate design, parallel beams, optical illusions creating silhouettes and shades to the natural lakes, wetlands, salt flats and fossilized sands and dunes – the hidden gems of the UAE. The veil sofa stands out with the curves and flow depicting a key feature of the local dress in the UAE, the Abaya.
The design of W Lounge draws on the question; “What if the desert flooded?” Imagine rains pouring into the desert creating a kaleidoscope of vivid, diverse colours creating a Super Bloom. A Super Bloom is botanical phenomenon that awakens wild fauna. A Super Bloom in the Abu Dhabi landscape would create a carpeted tapestry of wild flowers and exotic edibles.
