First built in 1933 as a drill hall for the former Straits Settlements Volunteer Force (the precursor to the Singapore Armed Forces), the gazette heritage building has since been re-imagined as our JW Marriott South Beach Hotel's Grand Ballroom.
Capable of hosting events for up to 400 guests, our Grand Ballroom building houses over 830-square-meters of event space in total, spread over three levels. A pre-function foyer area is on the ground level, the main ballroom on the second level and then a mezzanine overlooks the ballroom.
Combining unique classic art-deco and pillarless architectural features with a modern glass façade and designer interiors, our Grand Ballroom impresses many a guest with an expansive 10-meter by 15-meter LED-display backdrop and the dazzling display of Phillipe Starck's sprawling ‘Forest of Lights' that adorns the ballroom's high ceiling overhead.
