Welcome to Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid
Madrid Nobility With a Disruptive Edge
The Hotel Santo Mauro invites you on a journey in Madrid in the 19th century, at the home of the influential Duke of Santo Mauro. With its French-influenced design and architecture, our 5-star, historic hotel in Madrid consists of three buildings set in a sophisticated private garden, with fountains and terraces shaded by ancient chestnut trees. The guest rooms are full of special details and historical references that immerse you in the past. Each public room is unique: The Red Room reflects pure French Classicism, while the oriental pieces in the Chinese Lounge recall the objects the Duke used to collect on his travels. The Wine Bar offers an extensive list of wines and small dishes, while the main restaurant, housed in the Duke's former Library, offers a level of cuisine commensurate with its palatial setting. Music, fresh flowers, arts and crafts, and highly attentive service from the household staff round off the unique experience of staying in a palace.

In the City Center
The hotel's location, in the city center close to the design area and to the city's most renowned museums, gives access to a range of unique places and experiences both in and outside the city.
A Jewel in Madrid's Crown
The name Santo Mauro comes from a principality in Sicily, and the title "Príncipe de Santo Mauro de Nápoles" was first granted in 1705 by Philip V. In 1890, Mariano Fernández de Henestrosa was bestowed the title of Duke of Santo Mauro as a reward for his services to the crown. The ducal family still retains ownership of the palace, acting as its stewards.
French-Style Palace
The Palace of Santo Mauro
The Palace of Santo Mauro was built by architect Juan Bautista Lázaro between 1889 and 1902 as a residence for the Duke of Santo Mauro. As a French-style palace, the building is unique because it does not conform to the traditionalist style that was popular in this region during that time. The palace's main courtyard is curvilinear and was originally accessed by carriages, where the gorgeous iron and glass marquee at the entryway helped to protect the duke and his family on rainy days. The hotel retains its original interior design, boasting unique details such as the Modernist staircase in the entrance hall, a small oval courtyard, an old chapel, and the Duke's library.
Feel Right at Home in a Palace
Not many hotels can boast of occupying such a unique space that has survived so many different periods in Spanish history, that has shared its cuisine, its gardens and its lounges with ambassadors and intellectuals. And which still today retains its considerable appeal and fascination. In addition, since the hotel stands in the capital of a country that enjoys such international culinary acclaim as Spain, it opens up a world of experiences for guests to discover the recipes and ingredients of every region.
