Boasting more than 17 years of culinary experience, Derrick Connor holds the position as Chef de Cuisine at CORSAIR Kitchen + Bar at JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa. Under the direction of Director of Culinary, Gordon Maybury, Connor brings new menu direction to the Modern American restaurant, serving up comfort food for the lighter palate at Corsair, which offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Connor - an Atlantic City native - further his culinary education and enrolled in the Academy of Culinary Arts in Mays Landing, NJ, graduating with Gold Medal Honors in 2009. Upon graduating, he was hired as Executive Chef for Los Mangos, a Latin fusion restaurant, where he implemented one of the first organic menu programs in the state of New Jersey. In 2011 he moved to South Florida to take on the role as Executive Chef for Delray Yacht Cruises, overseeing their culinary operations. In his next position at Market 17 in Fort Lauderdale he concurrently received two culinary certifications, one as certified Chef De Cuisine through the American Culinary Federation, and the other through the World Association of Chefs’ Societies.
